“When the PE water supply pipe is connected by hot melt, the PE pipe has irregular flanges and is too easy to get clogged.” A few days ago, a friend from the municipal construction project said. We all know that PE pipes have strong wear resistance and corrosion resistance and are widely used. There are many types and uses of PE pipes. In fact, PE pipes are different in that there are many ways to connect different pipes and fittings.

  1. Hot melt connection

Hot-melt connection methods for polyethylene piping systems include hot-melt butt joints (including saddle-type connections) and hot-melt socket connections. Hot-melt socket connection is suitable for pipes and fittings with relatively small diameters (generally diameters below DN63mm). Because pipes and fittings with small diameters have thinner walls and smaller cross-sections, it is difficult to ensure quality by butt jointing.

Butt jointing is suitable for pipes and fittings with relatively large diameters. It uses less material and is easier to manufacture than socket connections. Moreover, the oxidized surface layer is cut off before welding, so the welding pressure can be controlled and the quality is easier to ensure. The heat capacity connection of PE pipe uses a hot-melt butt welding machine to heat the pipe end. It is similar to the hot-melt connection method of PPR pipe, but the welding temperature is different. PPR pipe is 260℃ and PE is 230℃. Wait until it melts. Finally, apply pressure on the two parts that need to be connected and keep them cool and fixed.

2.Electrofusion Fusion

Put the PE pipe fittings that need to be connected on the PE pipes, and use an electrofusion welding machine to melt the inner surface of the electrofusion pipe fittings embedded with electric heating wires and the surface of the pipe insertion end. After cooling, the pipes and pipe fittings have been electrofused together, so The connection is very solid.

3.Flange connection

When PE pipes need to be connected to metal pipes, valves and other water facilities, flange connections are required. The flange plate should be selected according to the size of the connecting pipe, and the pipe and fittings should be fastened through the flange plate so that the flange connecting piece is in close contact with the flange piece to achieve the purpose of connection.

PE pipes for water supply and drainage are replacement products of traditional steel pipes. They usually have to withstand a certain amount of pressure. It is very necessary to understand and choose appropriate connections. This requires us to have a deeper understanding of the connection methods of PE pipes, so that the installation of PE pipes will be firm. Stable and long service life!
